Use our Moore House Alpaca Yarn Guide to help you select the most suitable yarn for your project! Please note that we follow the standard yarn weight system developed by the Craft Yarn Council of America when labeling our yarn weights.
Be sure to look at our Moore House Paca Pacs which include a knitting pattern and the required amount of Moore House yarn to complete the project! The Paca Pac is an ideal gift for a knitter or purchase one yourself to make a special someone a luxurious gift that they will treasure for years!
Moore House Royale - Our Royale yarns are the ultimate in softness as they are made with the rarest and softest grade of alpaca we offer, < 20µm in fibre diameter! Royale yarns are suitable for items that will be worn next to the most sensitive skin. We offer Royale yarn in lace and fingering weights. Some Royale yarn is available with a blend of cultivated or Tussah silk.
Moore House Premier- Our Premier yarns are very soft and lovely, made with alpaca in the low 20µm range. This yarn is buttery soft and is suitable for items worn next to your skin such as scarves, shawls, and fine sweaters. This yarn is also perfect for baby items. Some varieties are blended with soy silk or bamboo.
Moore House Traditions - Our Traditions yarn is made from alpaca fibre in the mid to upper 20µm range. Since we have the mills dehair all fibre destined for Traditions yarn, this lovely yarn is very soft with dramatically less prickle compared with other yarns in the same micron range available elsewhere. More than one alpaca fibre expert has been fooled into believing that these yarns are made with Grade 2 alpaca! Traditions yarn is most suitable for items such as sweaters, hats, and mittens. It is available in DK, Worsted, and Aran weight and some varieties are blended with bamboo, soy silk, or merino.
Moore House Majestic North Sock Yarn - Our Majestic North yarn is made from upper 20µm fibre and is blended with merino and bamboo especially for knitting socks. The bamboo adds durability as well as antimicrobial properties. Most Majestic North yarn is hand dyed in a large variety of colour ways. It is also available in natural colours.
DYED YARN - Our beautiful Canadian alpaca yarns are also available in a huge array of lovely colours. The dyeing is carried out in small batches by hand at our farm, giving us many options for colour. Please be aware that the maximum quantity of yarn in a single dye lot is 400g. Because we offer so many colours, we do not maintain a stock of all colours at any given time; rather, we dye the colours as orders are placed. Our dyed yarns come in 100-110g skeins as described. Please allow up to 1 week for your order of dyed yarn to be prepared before shipping.
Please note that the stocked quantities of specific yarns are always fluctuating. If you are planning a project that requires a large amount of yarn, such as a sweater, please contact us to ensure that we have enough of a particular weight and colour of yarn to meet your needs.
The price of our yarn reflects the fineness of the alpaca used in the yarn, whether or not it has been blended with other fibres, and the weight to which it has been spun. HST is included in all prices. Shipping is extra and is calculated at checkout. Quantities of any item can be adjusted at checkout.
If you wish to pay by Interac E-Transfer or by Credit Card over the phone, please E-mail usto place your order. Your item(s) will be shipped once payment has been cleared.

Dyed Alpaca Yarn Colour Charts
Click on the photos to the right to view our Colour Charts for our Moore House Alpaca Yarns. We offer yarns that are dyed in solid colours as well as yarns that are variegated with numerous shades intermixed in delightful ways throughout the skein. Our goal with our variegated yarns is to keep the mix of colours on the subtle side so that the texture of your finished work is enhanced rather than muddied up with a ghastly mix of colours that overshadows your work. While it is a lot of fun to apply a wide array of colours to one skein of yarn, it is our experience that projects look much better when we keep the colours within the same family so that they blend well.
Every effort has been made to show the colours as accurately as possible. Colour representation may vary due to your computer settings.
Since our yarn is hand dyed in small batches, be sure to purchase enough yarn to finish your project as there may be slight variations in colour between dye lots. The maximum amount of yarn available in the same dye lot is 400g.
Preparation of our hand dyed yarn usually takes up to a week before shipping.
